Lab Capabilities
3D Printer
Use our 3D printer to create 3D objects from a variety of materials, including plastic and powders. Materials from the 3D printer have a variety of applications, including medical, industrial, mechanical, and more. Depending on the size of your product, 3D printing can take up to a few hours, so plan your visit accordingly.
Vinyl Cutter
Use our vinyl cutter to design and create your own vinyl signs. Start by digitally designing a logo, icon, or message using vector files. Then, print your design and feed it through our vinyl cutter to shape and construct your road sign, banner, or other display.
Laser Cutter
A laser cutter is a precision manufacturing tool that uses a thin, focused laser beam to cut and etch into flat materials such as metal. This equipment is commonly used by engineers and designed to cut out patterns and shapes into parts for other machinery and equipment.
Virtual Welder
Our virtual welding tool allows beginners to learn and experience welding processes through virtual reality. You can walk through the welding process step by step and hone your skills as you practice individual exercises to gain technical skills.
Mechatronics Kit
Mechatronics is a subset of engineering focused on designing and manufacturing products with both a mechanical and electronic component. Our expansive mechatronics kit allows both novices and professionals to practice and experiment with designing and building mechatronic tools.
CNC Router
CNC stands for Computer Numerical Controlled. A CNC router is a computer-controlled cutting machine designed to operate at high speeds, typically in an industrial setting. CNC routers are generally used to create complex shapes out of softer materials like wood, plastic, and some metals.
Bionic Flowers
Our bionic flower kit is a mechanical tool inspired by biological plants. They open and close their petals in response to external stimuli like light or approach using sensors and actuators. They are a beautiful and playful way to demonstrate both mechanics and botanical functions.
STEM Equipment
The Collab Lab also has STEM equipment available for use in our space for students and faculty members.
