When used effectively, an SEO blog can target people that do not already know about the existence of your business, but who are nonetheless seeking some version of your products or services.
SEO, at its core, involves using data research on common search queries, or keyphrases; then, ensuring that your website is likely to show up for those keyphrases by implementing a variety of development and copywriting methods.
SEO blogs serve to attract new users to the website via proper keyphrase implementation and high quality content.
The goal with any SEO blog is to act as evergreen content that garners traffic to your website. It is the website’s job as a whole to instill the correct trust signals and sell that user on their services.
Components of a successful SEO blog post

If you want to rank for “web design in Kansas City,” (or “insert your term here,”) you will need to make sure those words appear on that page in the following places:
- H1 tag: web design in kansas city

How to naturally implement keyphrases
If Lifted Logic were to optimize this post for the keyphrase “best web developer near me” here’s what that might look like.
Without Optimization
Finding a Web Developer
If your website needs a redesign, you may not realize that you also need to consider the development of your new website as part of the project. Most people confuse web “design” with “development,” but these aren’t always the same thing.
Lifted Logic would love to work with you on your next project and teach you all about the coding techniques we use to build our clients’ dream websites.
With Optimization
The Best Web Developer Near You
If your website needs a redesign, you may not realize that it’s not only about design, but also about functionality.
But looking for a web developer can be difficult. Do you search for someone that is in your area or in a bigger city? Should they charge an hourly rate or quote out by project?
…
The best web developers should be able to walk you through the website process step by step to answer your questions and help your small business understand what they need from you from start to finish.
…
An important part of shopping for a web development company is asking to see a portfolio of work to ensure that their development style will suit your needs. Things to look for in a web developer’s portfolio include: functioning links; smooth transitions & scroll features; no visible lines of code; attention to detail; navigability; and more.
…
Lifted Logic’s web developers in Kansas City take on a small number of new development projects each year in order to produce the best quality of work possible.

Word Count
You should always plan for writing a minimum of 300 words per post. However, you should plan on writing enough words to be competitive for the keyphrase you’ve chosen. If it is a “long-tail” keyphrase (a string of at least 5 words) 300 might suffice. If it is a more general term or you are attempting to rank on a large geographic scale, you might need closer to 1,500+.
Lifted Logic operates SEO blogging using the “Cornerstone Content” method. This is also known as “hub and spoke” due to its use of cross-linking. Within this system, there are two different variations of blog post lengths.
- Cornerstone Content: The core content you’ll be producing for the month, which will be between 1,500-3,000 words.
- Pillar Content: A sub-topic of your Cornerstone. Pillar content should still be published monthly, but it won’t necessarily have enough substance to justify writing as long of a post as your cornerstone piece. Typically, these are about 300-500 words.

Posting Your Content
Once your blog post is ready to be published, you’ll want to understand all the basic features of WordPress in order to put together an attractive, user-friendly blog post that accommodates multiple types of learners.
- Go to WordPress and select Posts > Add New.
- Copy and paste your content into your WYSIWYG (“What you see is what you get”) text box.
- Add your Page Title.
- Make sure your H1 is clearly stated at the top of your post using the “post subtitle” feature. This custom feature from Lifted Logic allows you to provide the keyphrase for your post as the H1 tag without it being the sole Page Title.
- Ensure your URL (Permalink) reflects your keyphrase exactly.
- Establishing a style hierarchy for your blog posts will help users “scan” your post for the information they’re looking for. It also helps to add visual interest and break up any longform paragraph text. After setting your H2s, H3s, and more, you can manipulate these styles using the “Formats” dropdown if necessary.
- Adding relevant images to your posts will help visual learners digest your post more easily. You can use images to break up paragraphs or place them on the side of text for a more dynamic feel.
- Add your category and tags, if applicable.
- Utilize the Yoast SEO Plugin.
- Schedule your post for the day and time you’d like it to go live on your website.
